The Power of 26: Running for Real Impact
26 km. 26 days. 26 futures.
In March 2026, endurance runner Jo Keppler is taking on a challenge that goes far beyond the road.
She will run 26 kilometres every single day for 26 consecutive days through the Midlands - all in support of the Amathuba Foundation, with the goal of raising R260 000 to help young South Africans unlock their potential.
And RACEFOOD is proud to be part of the journey.
Why This Challenge Matters
Between high school and tertiary education, many talented students face a difficult transition. Despite their potential, the gap between opportunity and support can cause promising futures to stall.
The Amathuba Foundation exists to bridge that gap.
Through structured, side-by-side mentorship from ages 12 to 22, Amathuba helps students not just survive their academic journey - but truly thrive.
As Jo puts it:
“Every run, every kilometre, every step is an opportunity to move a future forward.”
The Challenge Ahead.
Running 26 km once is respectable.
Running it 26 days in a row requires:
- Relentless consistency
- Smart recovery
- Proper fuelling
- Serious mental resilience
This is exactly the kind of sustained endurance effort where real food energy becomes critical.
Over nearly 700 kilometres in March, Jo will need steady, reliable fuel to keep showing up day after day.
How You Can Get Involved
This challenge is bigger than one runner.
You can support the mission by:
- Donating via Sport for Lives to help reach the R260 000 target
- Joining a run in the Midlands: each day features shorter loop options for walkers and runners
- Sharing the story to help grow the impact
Every step taken helps build a stronger future for the next generation.
About the Amathuba Foundation.
“In IsiZulu, Amathuba means Opportunities.”
The foundation believes one opportunity can change the trajectory of a young person’s life - but that opportunity must be supported through meaningful mentorship.
Their B-CRIGG Mentorship Programme focuses on:
- Belonging
- Compassion
- Relationships
- Integrity
- Gratitude
- Generosity
By walking side-by-side with students through high school and into university, Amathuba helps build confident, independent young leaders for South Africa’s future.

We’ll be sharing updates from Jo’s challenge throughout March. Because real endurance stories deserve real support.
